About the artist

Although leaving school with good RSA qualifications in art, Dad told me to concentrate on shorthand typing as then I would always have something to fall back on. Wasn’t he right? Painting had to go on the back burner due to the financial necessities of family life. I trained as a print compositor, subsequently forming my own company in typography, print design and production. The eventual sale of my business and a supportive husband, who built me a studio, enabled me to spend more time practising art. He also bought framing equipment and took a few lessons so he can now frame my work.

Recently I have been working on antipodean themes - cockatoos, parrots, snakes, eucalypts, monstera, blossoms, fruit, sea, sun and working these to form abstract and semi-abstract work based on my love of colour. Some large, some small and some successful, some not!
