Chinese, Japanese Painting

I have been practicing Chinese Brushpainting for seven years and in the last two years have  been studying a Sumie teacher training course with an amazing Japanese artist and teacher. I am enjoying learning to use ink and its wonderful effects to bring light and shade to paintings. When used well, the different shades of ink create a work which allows the viewer to enjoy a complete picture, without the feeling that colour is missing. I hope to provide a pleasing and contrasting mix of colourful Chinese paintings and bold, striking ink pieces, sometimes adding colour to mark details in ink paintings.
