Welcome to Art in June 2026! Now you are all signed up, here is some more detailed information about us and what you need to do.

You have joined a vibrant and very successful group of artists and makers who open their studios to an enthusiastic public, annually. Our aim to bring local artists together to promote and sell their work and connect to the wider community.

What does Art in June do for you?

We provide:

Banners, bunting and signs

You will be able to collect these a few weeks before the event. These are for your studio and anywhere local to you where you can place a sign or banner.

The Art in June Yellow guide

The brochure is our main promotional tool. Our local supporters start looking
out for it eagerly in May! It provides details of artists and studios, and being a paper guide is very visible, and an instant reminder of the event.

We provide as many copies as you need for your studio and for you to distribute.

The Art in June website – artinjune.org

Here the public can view or download a pdf of the Guide. General information about Art in June can also be found here.

New for 2026 – Art in June App

This is an exciting new part of our promotion of AIJ. It will provide information about Artists and studios, and link directly to google maps. We hope it will spread news about Art in June to a wider audience.

You will receive a link to the AIJ App, where you provide details of you and your work, Guide/ main image plus up to 5 images. It is this information that will appear in the guide, the website and the App, so please take time to check it. Have someone else look it over too!

Studio managers (Studios with more than one artist exhibiting, should have a designated co-ordinator) will be responsable for general information about the studio (address, facilities, opening times etc....).

The information you put in the App will be used to generate content for the guide. Cutoff date 20th Febuary, after which any amends will only be seen in the App.

You will be able to continue to edit some of the information on the App throughout the event, eg: opening tines, artist in studio or adding a workshop/demo (These changes/additions will not be reflected in the guide).

We will use a QR code on all our promotional material to link to the App.

Social media

We have active Facebook and Instagram accounts which we use to share details of you and the wider event. Look out for details of how to be included in this. Our social media Officer, Dan, will be happy to help you if you need it. (@Artinjunekent)

Publicity

Includes:

  • Coordination of local promotional activities

  • Distribution of Guide

  • We have decided this year not to advertise in glossy publications, which are expensive and of uncertain value.

What do we expect you to do?

Read and answer emails please!

We communicate with you by email. It is the quickest and most effective

way to organise. So please, the quicker you respond, the less time and effort it is for everybody.

Volunteering

We rely entirely on volunteers to stage Art in June. If you could help in any way, however small, please let us know.

Guide distribution

Artists are very effective at getting the brochures into local venues. We will suggest places where these can be delivered and ask you to confirm so we can ensure a full coverage. If there are other places where you have contacts, please suggest them. You may need to keep these topped up.

Banners, posters and directional signage

You will be responsible for promotion near your studio. If you have very visible sites locally which could display a banner, find out who you need to ask for permission, and order a suitable size.

We also provide weatherproof posters in various sizes. Think about where these could be displayed. Directional signage enables you to guide the public to you.

Yellow Bikes

Our yellow bikes have caught on and become a feature of the two weeks in June. The public know that a yellow bike means you are close to a studio, even on a winding, country back lane.

We ask you to obtain an old bike and spray it yellow – make sure it is unusable as we have had a couple stolen. You can decorate it as the fancy takes you!

Social media

We all know the value of social media these days, so in addition to the work Dan Huckfield does to promote us, we ask you to submit content when requested, and when you have something you would like to tell us about. We can promote it under the Art in June umbrella.

Exhibiting

You will need to manage your own studio. Make sure you can cover the opening times you advertise. Providing tea and coffee can be a useful way of making clients feel welcome, and encouraging sales. Make sure your insurance cover is in place.

Daily visitor tally

This can be a bind but it is an important measure of visitor numbers year by year. Just make a tick for every person who enters and add it up at the end of the day. Sometimes it is surprising how busy a day was when you thought it was rather slow! The App contains a means of recording this so we can gauge the success of the event.

Connect with nearby studios

Visitors like to see more than one studio if possible. If you connect with a couple of nearby studios, you will have a mini trail. Each studio can show visitors how they can take in another venue or two in the same area.

Collaborating on signage can also be helpful. If you are putting a piece in your parish magazine, you can also promote each other.

You could also co-ordinate private views – if you choose to have them.

Private view

That we leave for each studio to decide.

After the event

If you have been good enough to put banners and posters up, please take them down immediately after the final Sunday.

Keep your signage and publicity materials safe. That may save on ordering next year and free up funds for other uses.

Local free advertising

Cathy Bird is the committee member who will be co-ordinating this.

There are many sources of free advertising locally and even further afield.

  • Your parish magazine will take an ad or an article - you just have to get it into the May issue by submitting in March/April - we can generate ads and articles for this, but please reach out to us early to allow time to produce.

  • Local social media groups - there are several for each town and some villages – you just join the group and post.

  • Free online local news publications will often do an article.

  • Council news - they love our cycling trails!

  • Cycling Clubs - remember we had three cycle routes that cover the whole area last year –
we plan to do the same this year. Reach out to your local cycling club.

  • Rambling and Walking Clubs - we have one walk already and plan more this year.

Additional guide distribution

We normally have a day of guide distribution outside the Stag Theatre in Sevenoaks. We need volunteers to come and do a shift because we hand out a large number of guides on these occasions.

Local radio and TV

We would love to promote Art in June on local radio or TV. If anyone has contacts, please let us know.

That's it folks!

This is a small group of fantastic artists and craft makers! You're all very

creative and we would look forward to your involvement!

We hope that this Welcome Pack has been helpful to you. Any feedback or suggestions  would be welcome. 2026 is going to be another fabulous Art in June year!
