Cabinet maker

 

With an interest in both woodwork and early music I was most fortunate to be offered an apprenticeship as a harpsichord/cabinet maker.

 

This was with the world famous company of Arnold Dolmetsch Ltd (Arnold Dolmetsch was a friend of William Morris - whose methods influenced his craftsmen and those who followed).

 

After 20 years of making early keyboard instruments it was necessary to change direction slightly. Using the skills accumulated enabled me to open a small workshop at Chart Farm. From here I make furniture and other decorative and useful pieces, both speculatively and to commission.
