About the artist
With an interest in both woodwork and early music, I was most fortunate to be offered an apprenticeship as a harpsichord/cabinet maker. This was with the world-famous company of Arnold Detmesch Ltd (Arnold Detmetsch was a friend of William Morris - the influence of quality and job satisfaction influence the workforce).
After 20 years of making early keyboard instruments, it was necessary to change direction slightly. Using the skills accumulated, enabled me to open a small workshop at Chart farm. From here I make furniture and other decorative and useful pieces, both speculatively and to commission, some of which are somewhat challenging!
I hope my work reflects my love of wood and the high standard of workmanship I set myself.
