About the Artist
Enduring themes for my functional stoneware ceramics are the shapes and patterns of nature, particularly the plants and flowers that I see around me in the Kent countryside and my garden.
Once a pot is thrown on the wheel, I decorate it with slips (liquid clays which I stain), and a technique called sgraffito. This is where a pin is used to cut marks through the slip to show the clay behind it. This modern interpretation of an old English technique gives my pottery a unique style.
