What is Art in June?

 

We are a group of local artists, who open our studios annually for two weeks in June. Our aim is to bring our art practices to the wider public.

Who can join?

 

Any artists within the geographical area shown in this map, are welcome to join. 

 

Where can I exhibit?

 

As an artist, you will be expected to either open your own studio, or join with others as part of a group open studio. Art in June is not responsible for finding you a studio to join. However, we may be able to put you in touch with studios with space.

 

What are the costs?

AIJ 2025 fees:

• £100 for returning artists, registering before midnight on 10/1/25

• £125 for new artists registering before midnight on 10/1/25

• £140 for registrations after 10/1/25 and before midnight 11/2/25

• No other charges are made by Art in June, but you will need to cover your own studio costs.

What do I get for my fees?

 

Artists fees cover the following:

• Design, typesetting and printing of catalogues (13,000 were distributed in 2024)

• Artwork and printing of signage for studios 

• Advertising and promotion of the event

• Website development (each artist gets their own page which is live for the whole year)

• Social media (posting throughout the year) 

• Administration and project management of the event

How do I register?​

 

Registration will be open on this website from 1/12/24 and closes at midnight 11/2/25

 

What do I need to do?

​

• As an artist, you will be expected to open your studio, or joint studio, during the 2 week period, at times and days to suit you.

• You will need to provide details of your practice and images of your work which will be used on the artist pages of this site and for the brochures. 

• Studios and artists will receive marketing material, signage and brochures which you will need to arrange to distribute locally. Signage needs to be put up and taken down promptly. You will also be invited to help the group during ad hoc focussed marketing events, eg handing out brochures to the public in selected locations for a couple of hours.

• If you have local publications to advertise in, advert copy can be provided for you.

 

If you decide to join for 2025, a Welcome Pack, which will be provided to you, will contain all you need to know.
