Colin Anderson
About the artist
Colin Anderson paints landscapes of places that are unusual and less discovered – especially those that have a story, or the suggestion of a story, attached to them. He also likes to bring out the strangeness of places that may be familiar to us, but might look subtly different in a parallel imaginative world.
When he has discovered somewhere that intrigues him, he will make some sketches and also take photos. He will then make a drawing at home that aims to bring out the intrinsic atmosphere and experience of a place. Sometimes this will be quite changed and distorted; at other times he will leave it much as it looked. This design is then transferred to a canvas and he begins to paint.
